What's In My Fridge ("the app", "we", "us") is operated by Wellington Web Co. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions: finlay@wellingtonwebco.com.
What we collect
Account. You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive your email address (or Apple's private relay address) and an account identifier from them. We never see or store a password.
Your kitchen data. Your pantry, shopping list, saved recipes, cooking history, food you log as thrown away, and preferences. In the iPhone app this is stored on your device, not on our servers. The web app keeps it in your browser.
Usage counts. How many scans and recipe generations you've used this week, so we can apply the free-tier limits.
Product analytics. Anonymous app events such as "a receipt scan found 12 items", "a recipe was cooked" or "the upgrade screen was opened", with your device platform and an account or install identifier. We use these only to understand which parts of the app work and where people get stuck. They never include item names, photos, recipe text, prices or your email.
Photos you scan and your pantry
When you scan your fridge or a receipt, the image is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to identify the items in it. When you ask for recipes or add an item, the names of your pantry items are sent to OpenAI too. Nothing is sent until you agree in the app. We do not store your photos after they have been processed, and OpenAI does not use them to train its models.
Payments
In the iPhone app, subscriptions are billed by Apple through the App Store and managed through RevenueCat so the app knows whether Premium is active. On the web, payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Service providers we share data with
OpenAI: image and text analysis for scanning, shelf-life estimates and recipes.
Apple and Google: sign-in.
Apple, RevenueCat and Stripe: payments and subscription status.
PostHog (EU hosted): the anonymous product analytics described above.
Upstash: storage of your account record and usage counts.
Vercel: hosting of our backend.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Your choices
Use Settings, Delete account in the app to permanently delete your account. Any web subscription is cancelled at the same time; an Apple subscription must be cancelled in your Apple ID settings.
Use Settings, Clear all data to wipe your pantry, shopping list and preferences from your device.
Use Settings, AI & your data to withdraw consent to sending photos and item names to OpenAI.
Email us to ask what we hold about you or to have it removed.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest version.
